Application of urological collection for prostatitis
The prostate gland is an organ related to the endocrine system of the body. According to its functional characteristics, it is a gland of mixed secretion, i.e. releases hormones from the bloodstream and releases secretions into the environment along with sperm.
What is prostatitis?
Prostatitis is an inflammatory disease that affects the prostate gland. This organ is most often affected in men of sexually active age, it is about 35-45 years old. In some cases, it occurs earlier. The great danger of prostatitis is in itself that for a long time it can be absolutely asymptomatic and the man not only is not treated, but also does not even suspect about the pathological condition. The nature of inflammation in most cases is bacterial, it can be non-specific pathogens, as well as sexually transmitted infections.
The most common sexually transmitted infections leading to prostatitis are gonococci, chlamydia, Trichomonas, etc. In rare cases, it is a viral agent or an aseptic process. It should be noted that the process has different course options, it is both acute and chronic. It is characterized by pain in the lower abdomen or simply by discomfort, impaired urination, as well as irradiation to the inner thigh, rectum and penis.
Diagnostics
It is especially important for a man to identify prostatitis in time in order to subsequently avoid the transition to a chronic course or to achieve the formation of complications. For this, it is enough to consult a specialist when the first disturbing signs appear. It is better if it is a urologist, but in some cases a therapist can also solve the problem. He needs to describe in detail his complaints and indicate the time of their occurrence, as well as possible reasons (for example, hypothermia, change of sexual partner, use of non-traditional types of sexual contacts).
Subsequently, the use of laboratory and instrumental examination methods may be required. The most popular of which are general clinical blood and urine tests, determination of the level of prostate specific antigen. And also this is an ultrasound examination of the prostate gland, with the determination of the size, the identification of possible swelling. This type of study, such as a histological examination, is rarely carried out for prostatitis; this can be a necessary measure if a malignant process is suspected or an atypical course of inflammation is suspected. In most cases, a specialist's diagnosis is straightforward.
Treatment
As a rule, the treatment of prostatitis is based on the selection of means of etiopathogenetic therapy. Most often these are antibacterial agents; in case of a non-specific infection, these can be drugs of a wide spectrum of action. And if a pathogen is detected, especially a sexually transmitted infection, these are antibiotics, taking into account the sensitivity to infection. Sometimes it can be a combination of agents with different mechanisms of action, for example, bactericidal and bacteriostatic.
In addition, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also used. They not only act on the site of inflammation, but also help to cope with symptoms such as fever, pain, etc. With a decrease in the intensity of the pain syndrome, it is possible to use physiotherapy methods.
Great importance is attached to traditional methods of treatment. Herbal remedies help eliminate the severity of inflammation and reduce the number of relapses. Phytotherapy is used to prevent exacerbation of the inflammatory process.
