Meldonium for impotence
Meldonium for impotence
Meldonium is one of the effective metabolic agents that restore the energy metabolism of cells damaged after hypoxia or ischemia. The remedy is indicated for the development of impotence in chronic alcoholics and persons suffering from cardiovascular pathologies, disorders of cerebral circulation. The attending physician deals with the appointment, setting the duration of the medication course and the dosage of the drug.
Indications for the use of the metabolic substance
Among the alarming symptoms, in the presence of which doctors prescribe the use of Meldonium, are:
- a significant decrease in mental and physical performance, physical overstrain;
- the passage of the recovery stage after serious surgical procedures;
- ischemic heart disease, the consequences of a heart attack or dyshormonal dystrophy of the myocardium, chronic heart failure and cardialgia;
- acute and chronic pathologies of cerebral circulation, including ischemic stroke and cerebrovascular failure;
- withdrawal symptoms in the treatment of chronic alcohol dependence;
- central retinal vein thrombosis or retinal hemorrhage;
- diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy (lack of blood supply to the retina of the eyeball).
Pharmacological action of the medicinal product
Meldonium has antianginal and antihypoxic, adaptogenic and nootropic, metabolic and cardioprotective properties. It improves cerebral and cardiac blood circulation, stabilizes the mood and well-being of the patient, creating all the prerequisites for the restoration of healthy sexual potency. The drug is one of the structural synthetic analogs of gamma-butyrobetaine. The drug inhibits certain enzymes and slows down the production of carnitine. As a result, the concentration of long-chain fatty acids decreases, and the mechanisms of accumulation of activated forms of unoxidized fatty acids in cells slow down. The systematic use of a pharmaceutical product provides:
- improvement of intracellular metabolic processes
- slowing down tissue necrosis after an acute attack of myocardial infarction
- reduction of the rehabilitation period after severe circulatory disorders
- normalization of myocardial contraction processes
- increasing the body's tolerance to physical activity, increasing endurance
- effective redistribution of blood flow in ischemic areas
- restoration of blood circulation
- enhancement of cellular and humoral immunity
- alcohol addiction withdrawal syndrome treatment
The degree of bioavailability of the metabolic agent reaches 78%. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is observed 2 hours after administration. The active components are excreted from the patient's body after about 6 hours from the moment of absorption into the blood.
Method of application
The drug is produced in the form of solutions for parabulbar (through the skin of the lower eyelid), intramuscular and intravenous infusion. The duration of injection therapy and the dosage of the drug are calculated by the doctor, taking into account the patient's well-being and the severity of circulatory disorders. The average daily dosage of the drug for adult patients is 250-500 mg. In this case, the drug is administered 2-4 times a day.
Contraindications to the use of Meldonium
Complete rejection of antihypoxic therapy using Meldonium is recommended for patients suffering from:
- hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the drug
- high intracranial pressure caused by the growth of neoplasms in the brain, pathologies of venous outflow
It is required to use the medication with extreme caution and under constant supervision of the attending physician in case of pregnancy or minor age of the patient.
Side effects of the substance
If the instructions for the use of a pharmacological agent are violated, patients may note such side effects as:
- excessive psychomotor agitation
- dyspepsia
- swelling and rash, itching
- tachycardia and arterial hypotension
Drug Interactions
A drug for stabilizing cerebral and cardiac blood flow is not recommended to be combined with large doses of alpha-blockers and nifedipine, nitroglycerin, as well as with peripheral vasodilators and antihypertensive substances. Negative consequences do not occur if the patient takes Meldonium simultaneously with anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents and antiarrhythmic drugs.
