The likelihood of a quick and successful conception of a child in the same ratio depends on both partners. And if a woman often undergoes a full examination, pass all the tests and communicate with specialists - it is not difficult, then men are not always so determined. Especially when it comes to not just a visit to the doctor, but the passage of laboratory tests, for which psychological and physical readiness is required.

As a rule, a man's ability to conceive is checked using a spermogram - an analysis of sperm and the quality of the ejaculate. Correct diagnosis of the sample will help to establish whether a man is sick with some kind of infections, invisible externally, whether he has indications for conception and whether he is capable of having children at all, or how quickly the patient's problem can be cured.

In addition to semen analysis, a man usually also takes a mar-test. The MAP test is for what it is needed and why it is important, usually the doctor tells or the man himself can read what the mar test is on the network.

MAP test what is it? MAP test is a special analysis of a man's semen, which is carried out in a laboratory in order to determine the number of sperm that are not able to fertilize a woman's egg because they are coated with antisperm antibodies (ASAT). In addition, with the help of such a test, you can calculate the percentage of normal and working male germ cells that, for some reason, do not have the function of fertilization.

Indications for the MAP test

Why take such a test? Most often, the analysis is prescribed for men who are in a couple and cannot have a child for more than six months or a year, or for those representatives of the weaker sex who are preparing with their spouse for artificial insemination or planning a successful pregnancy.

The test can also be taken by men who are being treated for infections and viruses that affect the functioning of the reproductive system or who have already been diagnosed with abnormalities in semen analysis (for example, sperm sticking together).

But there are times when the MAP test is not performed, for example, when the semen analysis does not find male cells, which will be enough to determine the main indicators.

What does the MAP test show?

Spermogram with mar test and their decoding show the characteristics of male sperm, especially the very sperm that are in it. With the help of ejaculate diagnostics, it is possible in this way to diagnose a man's ability to conceive a child. If a representative of the stronger sex for some reason cannot have children, then during the decoding of the test, the doctor will be able to determine these reasons and prescribe a treatment for the disease.

According to the results of the MAP test, it is possible to determine: the level of motility and viability of sperm, the composition of sperm cells, the class of sex gametes and their activity, the content of leukocytes in the semen, the condition, type, semen viscosity, sperm acidity, ejaculate volume and even the presence of immune infertility ... The analysis focuses on the chemical constituent of a man's sperm.

And if the doctors agreed that the spermogram is a superficial analysis of the male semen, then the MAP test allows the doctor to examine in more detail all the properties and characteristics of the sample under study. It also happens that with good spermogram indicators, pregnancy still does not occur. Then the man needs to take an additional test to get deeper results.

For example, only the MAP test can show if there are special sperm in the male body, coated with antisperm antibodies, which destroy germ cells, mistaking them for foreign objects. It is this factor that does not take into account the spermogram, and it can become decisive in the process of conceiving a baby.

Such cells can form in the body as a result of:

• injuries and diseases, which became a pretext for the destruction of the boundaries between the seminal canal and blood vessels.
• operations on the genitals, which subsequently caused complications and injuries.
• pathologies, genetic diseases that affect the functioning of the reproductive system.

How to pass the MAP test correctly

The MAP test can be performed in two ways: direct and indirect research. A direct test is a study of a man's sperm, and an indirect test is a blood serum test. Looking ahead, we note that the first option opens up a broader picture and gives the specialist the opportunity to more accurately diagnose the causes of diseases and their treatment. But many labs do two tests together to get the most accurate result.

A spermogram with a mar test is usually taken by masturbation, and then research is carried out from one portion of the sample.

Before taking the analysis, you must:

• 3-5 days before the direct sperm donation, you need to refrain from sexual intercourse, while in the last six months a man should have had sexual intercourse.
• a week before the planned test, refuse to visit the bathhouse, sauna, do not overheat or freeze, do not take a hot bath at home and wear comfortable clothes, especially underwear.
• a few days before the test, do not eat fatty, fried, spicy foods.
• cut out alcohol and quit smoking.
• also give up taking medications a few weeks before the test, and if this is not possible, discuss it with the doctor and notify the laboratory assistant at the clinic where you will take the test.
• if you have been prescribed a prostate massage, then 3-5 days before the test you need to stop doing it
• protect yourself from stress and anxiety, do not overwork yourself with hard physical work and contact with chemicals. Have a good rest before your test day.

If you have recently been ill, have used hormonal drugs six months before the test, or feel unwell on the day of the test, it is better to notify the doctor or the clinic's medical staff about this. Analysis collection may need to be rescheduled for a more convenient time.

For men, it is worth remembering that in order to pass the test correctly and its indicators were as accurate as possible, it is recommended to take the analysis at the clinic. But today many laboratories allow to collect sperm at home in a sterile container, and the sample itself can be delivered to the clinic within an hour or two in compliance with all the doctor's recommendations (correct transportation, temperature, etc.).

It is not recommended to collect a sample for analysis by interrupted intercourse or oral sex. These methods are unreliable and imprecise because leukocytes, flora cells, and other particles can enter the sample during sperm collection. The use of a condom to collect the test is also not allowed, because a chemical lubricant can enter the semen.

Usually the test result and its decoding in numbers are ready the next day. Decoding of the analysis is carried out by many at home using the Internet, but not everything that is shown on paper will be clear to the patient. It is better to visit a doctor and listen to his opinion and advice. Poor MAP test results in a man is not a verdict, only a doctor can tell you how to solve the problem quickly and reliably.
