Treatment Of Prostatitis With Ciprofloxacin Instructions For Use

The use of antibiotics in the treatment of the prostate gland is indicated in the presence of infectious activity in the tissues of the prostate. Ciprofloxacin for prostatitis is used to suppress the activity of various groups of bacteria in men. Dosages are prescribed by a strictly attending physician based on the actual condition of the patient.

Description and release form

The drug belongs to fluoroquinolones. Ciprofloxacin has an effect on many types of bacteria, which makes it possible to prescribe it for infectious lesions of various body systems.

The drug is available in 3 forms:

  • Coated tablets with various concentrations of active substance 250, 500, 750 mg (10 pieces each);
  • Ready solution for infusion is a liquid that has no color and is packaged in 100 ml. The number of bottles per box varies depending on the manufacturer;
  • The concentrate intended for dilution and infusion (not currently available) is a yellowish liquid substance. In a bottle of 10 ml (10 mg / ml) of the drug, in a pack, 5 pieces are sold.

Ciprofloxacin: composition

Depending on the type in which the drug is produced, the composition also varies. The main component in tablets is ciprofloxacin, which is contained in an amount of 250, 500 or 750 mg. Additional substances:

  • Starch;
  • Talc;
  • Magnesium stearate.
  • Microcrystalline cellulose;
  • Crospovidone;
  • Milk sugar.

1 ml of the solution for infusion contains the active ingredient in the form of monohydrate hydrochloride, 2 mg. Auxiliary components:

  • Sodium hydroxide solution;
  • Lactic acid;
  • Disodium salt;
  • Sodium chloride;
  • High purity water.

The concentrate consists of 100 mg of the main component and:

  • Hydrochloric acid;
  • Edetate disodium dihydrate;
  • Lactic acid;
  • Sodium hydroxide;
  • Water for dripping.

Indications and contraindications

Main indications for antibiotic use:

  • Bronchitis;
  • Otitis media;
  • Mycoplasmosis;
  • Lung inflammation;
  • Angina;
  • Chlamydia;
  • Ureaplasmosis;
  • Endometritis;
  • Cystitis;
  • Urethritis;
  • Chronic and acute bacterial prostatitis.

Treatment of prostatitis with Ciprofloxacin is excluded in the following cases:

  • Age under 18;
  • Diseases of tendons and ligaments;
  • Epilepsy;
  • Colitis;
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

It is important to know that the drug can react with Tizanidine, therefore, when prescribing Ciprofloxacin, it is important to adjust the therapeutic regimen. In addition, you should stop drinking alcoholic beverages: they can reduce or enhance the effect of the active substance.

Side effects are manifested when the recommendations regarding the daily dosage are ignored or if there are contraindications for admission. In this case, the occurrence in men is likely:

  • Rash on the skin in combination with itching;
  • Vomiting and nausea;
  • Hand shake;
  • Decreased appetite;
  • Diarrhea and flatulence;
  • Difficulty sleeping;
  • Sore joints;
  • Dizziness, convulsive seizures;
  • Increased body temperature.

It is extremely rare that antibiotic therapy is accompanied by:

  • Arrhythmia;
  • Development of hepatitis;
  • Short-term hearing loss;
  • The occurrence of hallucinations.

In the presence of the listed reactions on the part of the body, an immediate visit to the clinic for gastric lavage is required.

Ciprofloxacin for prostatitis: instructions for use

Depending on the form of the disease and its severity, the dosage is selected individually by the attending physician. Self-medication is strongly discouraged: erroneous daily doses and lack of information and contraindications can lead to unpredictable consequences.

Pills

According to the information in the instructions, tablets are prescribed at an early stage of the disease and for the treatment of chronic inflammation of the prostate gland. In the first case, it is recommended to take a tablet (after meals) 500 mg twice a day (7-14 days). Drinking Ciprofloxacin for chronic prostatitis should be 500 mg 1 or 2 times a day, in the morning (7-28 days).

The duration of the course of treatment depends on many factors, discussed by the man with the attending physician. Longer therapy than 28 days has a negative effect on men's health, in particular, on potency as well (since the whole body is weakened, potency becomes more sluggish), the stomach and liver also suffer, in some cases, the kidneys and heart.

Infusion

Ciprofloxacin in the form of injections, or rather infusions, is used exclusively in a hospital. Droppers are used as the preferred option for acute exacerbations.

The daily allowance is 200 to 400 mg. 2 procedures per day. Traditionally, the course is 1-2 weeks, in case of urgent need it can be extended.

Treatment regimen with the drug

General principles of drug therapy:

  • Reception is possible at a convenient time (but preferably after meals in order to smooth out the negative effect on the digestive tract);
  • The average single dosage is 500, the maximum possible per day is 1500 mg;
  • A severe course of the disease may become the basis for extending treatment up to a month.

An important condition during antibiotic therapy is the maintenance of normal microflora. Active substances that inhibit the activity of pathogenic microorganisms also destroy beneficial bacteria necessary for the normal functioning of the digestive system.

To avoid the development of dysbiosis, it is necessary to take funds with bifidobacteria simultaneously with the drugs and for the next several weeks. It is also important to introduce fermented milk products (fermented baked milk, kefir and cottage cheese) into the diet.

Doctors insist on the need not to interrupt the treatment course. Sometimes the first signs of relief prompts men to stop taking the pills before the end of therapy, however, if this is done, then there is a high probability of relapse.

Ciprofloxacin is widely available in pharmaceutical chains and online pharmacies. However, a stamped prescription completed by a doctor is required to purchase. The price is budgetary; a man with any income level can afford the drug.
