Impotence under stress
Erectile dysfunction in men is a very common phenomenon that can be caused by various factors, both psychological and physical. Recently, doctors are increasingly observing the relationship between potency and stress. The danger of such an effect lies in the fact that Erectile dysfunction may not appear immediately after nervous tension, but after a while. That is, a man initially does not notice significant problems in his intimate life, and, accordingly, is in no hurry to contact a specialist.
How stress affects male strength
Depression, failure in personal life and at work leave a negative imprint on the entire body. The more impressionable and emotional a person is, the more likely he is at risk of getting stress, which can further provoke psychological impotence. When a stressful situation arises, our body begins to produce adrenaline, the so-called stress hormone, while lowering testosterone levels. Adrenaline, in turn, raises the heart rate and blood circulation, and then the brain temporarily blocks the functioning of all organs (including the penis) that are not involved in the fight against potential danger.
GOOD TO KNOW: In men over 30, the amount of testosterone, the hormone responsible for sexual desire, decreases annually by 1%
Stages of stress impotence
1. Situational impotence. It occurs immediately after a certain negative situation, for example, as a result of a quarrel with a loved one. It does not last long, it can pass without a trace after resolving the conflict or changing the psychological environment. At the same time, the partner may still desire intimacy, but the erection is not strong enough for a full-fledged sexual intercourse. Situational impotence is fixed in memory for a long time, if no measures are taken to eliminate it, and in the future such situations can cause erectile dysfunction again.
GOOD TO KNOW: One-time erectile dysfunction cannot be called impotence if they do not appear systematically with a certain frequency.
2. Chronic impotence caused by stress. If, after a one-time failure in the work of the reproductive system, a man feels guilt and fear of his partner, it is possible that the situation will repeat itself several times. This can cause the so-called "impotence complex" and cause chronic impotence. At this stage, it is almost impossible to cope with the disease alone; the help of a qualified psychologist may be needed to solve the problem.
GOOD TO KNOW: A distinctive characteristic of psychological impotence is the obligatory presence of night and morning erections, which disappear with physical (organic) impotence.
Treatment and prevention
The first step in the fight against stressful impotence should be the realization that the problem still exists. Erectile dysfunction, regardless of what factors it is caused by, warns a man about the need to change his rhythm and lifestyle, which involves the following actions: 1. Sports. Regular physical activity is the key to men's health. They not only train the muscles of the body, but also strengthen the nervous system, which helps the body to experience stressful situations less painfully. In addition, any exercise has a positive effect on blood circulation, increasing blood flow to the pelvic organs. 2. Power control. You should avoid overeating, as well as exclude from your diet foods harmful to the body - smoked meats, excessively fatty foods, all alcohol and carbonated drinks. Otherwise, there are no restrictions on food, but for potency it will be better if you add fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, meat, fish (sea varieties are especially useful), nuts, juices and herbal teas to the menu. 3. A good rest. It should include good sleep (at least 8 hours a day) and compulsory walks in the fresh air. 4. Quitting smoking. Nicotine is the main enemy for our vessels. Forgetting this bad habit, you will significantly improve blood circulation and cleanse your body of toxins. This will provide health to the entire body and prolong sexual activity for at least 5 years. Massage is a good way to relieve stress. It has a positive effect on the general condition and can be a prelude to sex. During the massage, special influence should be given to the feet - the maximum number of erogenous points, as well as the neck and shoulders, are concentrated on them. After the massage, the effect can be strengthened with water treatments, for example, taking a bath or a contrast shower.
