Trental for erectile dysfunction
Trental for erectile dysfunction
Trental is an oral tablet with a prolonged exposure period. The pharmaceutical product is available in the form of oblong, biconvex pills, each of which is covered with a protective white coating.
The pharmacological purpose of the drug is to provide a vasodilating effect. When the active components of Trental enter the blood serum, local and peripheral microcirculation improves, and optimal blood flow is restored.
Indications for the use of a vasodilator
Tableted medicinal substance is recommended for use by persons with signs:
- disorders of peripheral blood circulation, provoked by negative factors of an atherosclerotic nature. We are talking about "intermittent" claudication, diabetic angiopathy. In some cases, circulatory failure is the result of trophic abnormalities, that is, gangrene or ulcerative lesions of the skin in the lower leg area. Severe frostbite and post-thrombotic syndrome can trigger the onset of blood flow disorders. Disturbances in the circulatory activity of the blood are often observed in patients after the use of separate solutions for infusion. As one of the consequences of a peripheral circulation failure, doctors call a decrease in erectile abilities in male patients;
- cerebral circulation disorders. Attacks of ischemic stroke of varying severity can form under the influence of ischemic and post-stroke conditions, as well as acute cerebral atherosclerosis. Pathology manifests itself in the form of memory impairment, dizziness and impaired concentration;
- deviations in the process of blood supply to the choroid of the eye and retina;
- degenerative changes and otosclerosis after damage to the vascular tissues of the inner ear, which caused a deterioration hearing ability.
Pharmacodynamics
Trental allows you to increase the fluidity of plasma. Improvement of the rheological properties of blood can be achieved due to the effect on the pathologically altered deformability of erythrocytes. The components of the pharmacological agent block platelet aggregation, which entails a natural decrease in the degree of plasma viscosity. Thus, the course of taking the medication allows you to achieve a noticeable improvement in blood microcirculation in areas of slow blood circulation. The main active ingredient of the vasodilator drug is pentoxifylline. A xanthine derivative inhibits phosphodiesterase and slows down the accumulation of cAMP in vascular smooth muscle cells and blood serum. The drug Trental causes a slight expansion of the coronary vessels, improves the clinical picture in cerebrovascular accidents. The use of a tablet drug increases the chances of recovery among patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease. Thanks to the effects of pentoxifylline, these patients can cope with pain and nocturnal cramps in the calf muscles. The pharmaceutical product has a beneficial effect on men suffering from erectile dysfunction. The drug substance restores the processes of local microcirculation, ensuring the formation of a full erection. Taking this drug during the period recommended by the doctor will allow a sexually mature man to eliminate the signs of a weakened, short-lived erection with incomplete hardening of the reproductive organ.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is available in pills of 100 and 400 mg. The absolute bioavailability of pentoxifylline is 15-20%. The period of oral administration of the active components of the drug into the blood is 100-120 minutes. Pentoxifylline is completely metabolized in the patient's body and excreted by the kidneys. If a man suffers from renal failure, there is a possibility of delayed elimination of vasodilator residues.
Method of administration and dosage
The drug with a prolonged exposure period is taken as prescribed by a doctor. The dosage is determined in accordance with the individual characteristics of the patient. Trental is taken orally, during or immediately after a meal. Drinking a blood thinner should be one tablet three times a day. The pharmacological substance must be taken with a sufficient amount of water. The maximum single dose should not exceed 400 mg. Reducing the daily dosage of the drug is recommended for men with signs of severe liver dysfunction, high blood pressure and ischemia.
Contraindications
Tablets can only be drunk after reaching the age of majority.Pentoxifylline is not prescribed to get rid of a defective erection if the patient has:
- hypersensitivity to any of the active or auxiliary ingredients of the pharmaceutical agent
- a history of acute myocardial infarction
- massive bleeding
- cerebral hemorrhage or retina recently undergone surgery
- chronic heart failure
- disorders of kidney and liver function
- severe progressive cardiac arrhythmias
- arterial hypotension
- peptic ulcer of the digestive organs
- a high tendency to the onset of internal bleeding against the background of blood coagulation disorders
- long-term drug therapy with the use of anticoagulants
