Why sperm is yellow
Why sperm is yellow
Most of the male seed (up to seventy percent) is a derivative of the testes. Eight percent of the seminal fluid is produced by the testicles. The prostate gland is responsible for the rest of the sperm.
The haze or transparency of the ejaculate depends on several factors: the number of germ cells, the smaller they are, the more transparent the seminal fluid; fructose content, protein and mineral concentrations.
What determines the color characteristic of the seed
A change in the color of seminal fluid is the first sign of dysfunction of the genital organs in men. It is noticeable to the naked eye already at the initial stage of pathological disorders.
On the other hand, the ejaculate is easily able to change its shade under the influence of temporary external factors. With the exclusion of such an impact, it is quickly restored.
Yellowish semen color is not considered a sign of pathology if it is provoked:
- Taking certain types of medications. Most often, such changes are caused by antibiotics,
- The use of food products, which include natural and artificial dyes. In this case, many biological fluids visually change.
- Age features. In mature men, yellowish sperm is more common, this is due to physiological restructuring.
- The presence of urine elements in the ejaculate. It is regarded as a manifestation of the norm, but requires additional clarification.
- Intensity of sexual life. The following relationship can be traced: after prolonged sexual abstinence, the seed acquires a more saturated color, and with increased activity - a transparent, watery appearance.
But a transparent ejaculate can be an external sign of asthenozoospermia - a condition in which there is a lack of active sperm in the seminal fluid, which adversely affects the fertility of a man. This pathology may be based on violations of spermatogenesis in the testicles or the presence of obstacles in the vas deferens, which affects the outflow of ejaculate.
Diseases affecting the external characteristics of seminal fluid
Yellow semen, observed for a long time, when it is accompanied by itching, there are painful sensations at the time of ejaculation and itching, speaks of inflammatory diseases and genital infections. The unpleasant smell of the ejaculate also testifies in favor of sexually transmitted diseases, especially if it has sour notes.
Red shades of biological fluid are a sign of hemispermia - the presence of blood in the ejaculate. Such a symptom is an indicator of the presence of inflammatory diseases of the prostate and urethra or the development of neoplasms. It is accompanied by the following manifestations:
- difficulty urinating
- pain in the lower back, scrotum, testicles,
- change in external characteristics of urine.
The brownish hue of the ejaculate indicates a chronic inflammatory disease, when there is "old blood" in the semen. In mature patients with a similar symptom, malignant degeneration of prostate tissues should be excluded. Hemispermia of this type is a sign of the pathology of the "deeper" parts of the male genital area.
A greenish tint, especially if the yellow color of the semen has been present for a long time before, is a sign of a urogenital infection. The inflammatory process can develop in the seminal vesicles, prostate, scrotum, kidneys, urethra. The source of purulent inclusions in the seed can be balanoposthitis - inflammation of the skin masonry of the penis.
Such diseases are accompanied by the following symptoms:
- general rise in temperature,
- external changes in the genital organs (edema, hyperemia),
- painful urination,
- changing the consistency of the seed.
How to influence sperm quality
Men's health is a very vulnerable thing, sensitive to many environmental factors. To a large extent, it depends on the lifestyle and habits laid down from childhood. Male representatives are largely able to independently influence the quality of seminal fluid. To do this, you must adhere to a number of simple and easy to follow rules:
