Psychological problems with potency
Psychological impotence is a spontaneous loss of erectile function due to the occurrence of a sudden traumatic situation or long-term violation of sexual behavior in adolescence. A variety of psychogenic factors that suppress the transmission of arousal signals from the genitals to the brain contribute to a partial or complete loss of sexual power.
Signs of psychological impotence
Depressive disorders, psychoses and neuroses, as well as phobias and various sexual deviations that become chronic, pose a danger to male sexual solvency. Psychological, or cortical, erectile dysfunction occurs suddenly, appears sporadically, and is often accompanied by unintentional erections in the morning and evening. The disappearance of sexual potency, as a rule, has a specific reason, it is manifested:
- under the influence of negative emotional associations
- under certain circumstances
Types of psychological impotence
Cortical erectile dysfunction manifests itself in 2 main forms.
Inhibition of sexual excitability
The patient may completely lose sensitivity to sexual stimulation. The severity of sexual desire is weakened, the strength of orgasm decreases. Pathology can be triggered by excessive mental activity, strong emotions, conflict with a sexual partner, or harsh ascetic education. Violation of sexual abilities often acquires a hyposthenic form of neurasthenia, when a person plunges into a state of apathy, general weakness. Inhibition of mental activity occurs, fatigue of the body increases, emotional exhaustion and a lack of desire to have sexual intercourse are observed. The toxic effects on the nervous system of the following substances can aggravate the condition of the reproductive system:
- sedative and analgesic drugs
- narcotic drugs
- alcoholic beverages
- poisonous substances
Psychogenic sexual dysfunction is transformed into a complex one, when, when examining a patient, a physician manages to find out that a significant deterioration in well-being and psychological depression was preceded by:
- infectious disease (syphilis, tuberculosis)
- metabolic disorders (obesity)
- disorder of conditioned or unconditioned reflexes of sexual activity
It is quite rare in men that there is a lack of cortical sexual excitability of a congenital nature. The presence of such a pathology causes anomalies of a mental, nervous and anatomical nature, leading to a decrease in the level of libido.
Inhibition of the erection center
The patient experiences sexual desire, but is not able to have sexual intercourse. In some situations, the ability to bring the penis into a tense look is preserved, then the patient experiences an inferior erection or cannot complete sexual contact with ejaculation. The peripheral reproductive apparatus is not affected by functional pathological changes. A man can experience sexual arousal in sleep and wakefulness, there is a spontaneous erection. Periodically, erotic dreams occur, which cause the onset of erection, ejaculation and orgasm. The inability to tense the penis is often due to:
- increased fixation of attention on the genitals
- alertness to the appearance of an erection
- obsessive expectation syndrome and fear of failure
Inhibition of the ejaculatory function
Psychogenic disorder is selective. This means that as a result of intimacy with one woman, a man does not experience an orgasm, and during sexual intercourse with another woman, ejaculation and a vivid orgasm occur. Cortical aspermatism occurs in patients who are awake. In the evening and in the morning, the inhibitory effect of the psyche does not manifest itself, so a man can experience a spontaneous erection, which ends with ejaculation and a full orgasm. Common causes leading to complete or relative aspermatism are:
- the possibility of unwanted fertilization
- fear of failure
- fear of contracting a venereal disease
- unfavorable living conditions causing the fear of being caught off guard during intercourse< / li>
Great pressure on the male psyche is exerted by relationships with a sexual partner. Decreased sexual desire and lack of orgasm causes:
