What can lower abdominal pain mean?
The more beautiful half of humanity faces this problem every month, but less abdominal discomfort is attributed not only to women. What is worth knowing about them? Where can they be a symptom? You will learn all of this from further reading. One thing is for sure, no signals should be underestimated.
Those of the ovaries are usually located on the sides of the abdomen. Sometimes the lower abdomen hurts with cholecystitis. However, it usually radiates from under the right costal arch under the scapula.
The most common causes of this pain are constipation and bloating, food poisoning and allergies, as well as endometriosis, Crohn's disease and mesenteric lymphadenitis. In men, pain in the lower abdomen is often accompanied by an enlarged prostate gland (prostate gland).
When should we see a doctor? For acute abdominal pain, preferably as soon as possible. Especially if they are so strong that we cannot find any reasonably comfortable position, or the pain intensifies even with breathing, this is accompanied by vomiting (especially with an admixture of blood or sand that looks like coffee grounds), fever, severe bloating, blood in feces, shortness of breath, or a sudden drop in blood pressure (fainting).
The visit should not be postponed if you have recently suffered an abdominal injury or if the pain persists for several days.
For women, the indication for consultation is any abdominal pain if pregnancy is suspected.
How can we help each other? In case of acute abdominal pain, it is better not to eat anything, but it is worth drinking (in small sips) water or other neutral liquids (weak tea, herbal infusions, for example, with anise relaxant, fennel or thyme).
We must avoid coffee, alcohol and carbonated drinks. It is best to refrain from taking over-the-counter pain relievers as they can aggravate many of the diseases that are the main cause of pain, and it is worth visiting an andrology center as well
Warming up the abdominal cavity helps with many types of pain, for example, in a heating pad with warm water or in a warm bath (not recommended for pregnant women). It is definitely worth resting in a supine position (if it does not exacerbate the ailment).
For menstrual problems, however, try lying on your side with a pillow between your knees or sitting with a pillow in your abdomen.
