Pharmacotherapeutic group

A drug that inhibits type 5 phosphodiesterase (PDE-5). The action of Cialis is aimed at eliminating erection dysfunction.

Form of release of the drug and its composition

Cialis is available in the form of tablets enclosed in a yellow film shell. The drug is based on tadalafil in appropriate labeling doses - 20, 5 or 2.5 mg. The auxiliary substances are: lactose monohydrate, hydroxypropyl cellulose (hyprolose), croscarmellose Na, microcrystalline cellulose, Mg stearate, SLS. The film contains: dye iron oxide and Opadry yellow, Ti dioxide, lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, triacetin.

Pharmacological action

The action of Cialis is aimed at suppressing PDE5 during sexual arousal, as a result of which the concentration of cyclic guanosine monophosphate in the cavernous body of the male genital organ increases, smooth arterial muscles relax, which promotes blood flow to the tissues of the penis, and an erection occurs. The positive effect of Cialis is observed 15-20 minutes after taking the pill and lasts for 36 hours only in the presence of sexual arousal. The inhibitory effect of tadalafil on PDE5 is 10,000 times stronger than on phosphodiesterases: PDE1, PDE2, PDE3, PDE4, PDE7 and PDE10, found in blood vessels, heart, liver and brain; and 700 times - PDE6, localized in the retina and responsible for phototransmission. This selectivity of the effect on PDE5 makes it possible to minimize the Side effects of the drug, especially on the heart. The use of Cialis, unlike other drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, does not lead to a significant increase in blood and intraocular pressure, heart palpitations, impaired vision and color perception, and changes in pupil size. In addition, there was no clinically significant effect of the drug on the quantitative and qualitative parameters of ejaculate and sex hormones (FSH, LH, prolactin, testosterone).

Application, absorption and excretion

The drug can be used at any time of the day, regardless of food intake and alcohol consumption. Tadafil is rapidly absorbed, and the maximum concentration in the blood is noted after 120 minutes. Men with erectile dysfunction and having an active sex life are recommended to take the drug daily at the same time in a dosage of 2.5-5 mg. Patients with sexual activity no more than 2 times a week should take Cialis at a dosage of 20 mg 15 minutes or immediately before intercourse.

The action of the drug lasts 36 hours, so re-use is not recommended. On average, the half-life of the drug in the body of a healthy person is 17-18 hours. Excretion occurs in the form of inactivated metabolic products, mainly with feces (about 60%) and about 35% with urine.

  • the use of drugs containing any nitrates of organic origin
  • lack of lactase enzyme in the body , lactose intolerance
