Influence Of BPH On Potency

Impotence in young men is not the norm and, as a rule, it is accompanied by a number of other diseases of the reproductive system, among which, according to statistics, the leading position is taken by prostate adenoma.

Brief information: Doctors call prostate adenoma a benign tumor that can develop into cancer without medical help.

During illness, the prostate gland increases in size, as a result of which the urinary canal is compressed and urination becomes difficult. The patient may experience a burning sensation, the number of visits to the toilet becomes more frequent, and sometimes it becomes difficult to restrain the urge to urinate. If treatment is not started in a timely manner, blood particles may appear in the urine, which indicates the development of infections in the urinary tract or the appearance of stones in the bladder. Adenoma of the prostate cannot but be displayed on sexual activity, and this is due to the following reasons:

  • The disease is most often accompanied by a severe pain syndrome, as a result of which sexual intercourse is impossible
  • There is an effect on the emotional state of a man who cannot fully relax and enjoy the process
  • Normal blood circulation in the pelvic area is impaired, without which long-term erection is impossible

GOOD TO KNOW: Adenoma of the prostate is called "the disease of mature men", because most often this disorder is observed in people over 50 years old who have ceased to have a regular sex life.

Diagnostics and treatment

As a rule, the study of prostate adenoma begins with rectal palpation, which allows you to determine the size and density of the nodules. The doctor then prescribes traditional ultrasound or rectal ultrasound (called TRUS). One of the research methods - uroflowmetry, is to measure the volume of urine and the speed of its movement along the urethra. This allows you to determine what is preventing normal urination and where the obstruction is located. Additionally, a blood test may be prescribed for the presence of specific antigens, indicating the formation of cancer cells in the prostate gland. In the early stages of the disease, various drugs are used:

  • Hormonal drugs, whose action is aimed at reducing the size of the prostate gland
  • Tablets that tone up the urinary system - they relieve pain and facilitate going to the toilet
  • Herbal preparations that are complementary rather than primary treatments

An advanced and complicated stage of adenoma can only be cured by surgery, and in this regard, many men ask the question: is it possible to have full sex after surgery? Doctors, as a rule, answer ambiguously, because the success of the operation and the further intimate life of the patient depends on many factors, including the age of the man, the professionalism of the surgeon and the rate of recovery of the body after removal. The safest surgical method today is considered to be transurethral resection, the main task of which is to remove tissue with a special device inserted through the urinary canal. Such an intervention is the least dangerous and allows a man to quickly return to a full life. There are other non-surgical treatments for BPH, for example:

  • Thermal therapy. Ultrasound and radio frequencies create a high temperature, under the influence of which a significant reduction in the size of the adenoma is observed.
  • Cryodestruction is the opposite of thermal therapy. Treatment takes place by exposing the prostate tissue to low temperatures. Proven high efficiency in the absence of pathologies.
  • Laser treatment. The laser beam heats the fluid inside the prostate, causing the tissue to evaporate and collapse.
  • Urethral dilation - aims to enlarge the urethra using a catheter. This method allows you to quickly eliminate pain and other unpleasant symptoms of the disease.
