Does Coffee Affect Potency

Does coffee affect potency and can this popular drink prevent erectile dysfunction? A study shows that drinking two cups of coffee a day can significantly reduce the chance of Erectile dysfunction.

Erectile dysfunction or impotence is one of the most common male sexual disorders. Pharmaceutical companies are working hard to find a solution for the millions of men who suffer from it. A new study shows that simply drinking two cups of coffee a day can reduce the chance of ED by 42 percent!

According to researchers at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, men who consumed between 85 and 170 milligrams of caffeine per day (the equivalent of two cups of coffee) reduced their risk of erectile dysfunction by 42%. Patients who consumed 171 to 303 mg per day were 39 percent less likely to report ED compared to men who did not consume caffeine at all.

And yet, does coffee directly affect potency? Research shows that caffeine improves blood flow to the penis by relaxing the spiral arteries of the penis, thereby promoting fuller erections.

What causes erectile dysfunction? Numerous factors contribute to impotence:

  • Diseases that cause blood flow problems, such as diabetes and atherosclerosis, can block blood flow to the penis and contribute to ED
  • Nervous system damage (eg, Parkinson's disease and stroke)
  • hormonal problems and lack of testosterone

Many men are unaware that sexual dysfunction can be triggered by anxiety about potency, a condition known as psychological erectile dysfunction. ED can also be a side effect of various medications.

What to do if you have erection problems? If you experience sexual weakness, you should consult a doctor. The first line of treatment usually includes medications such as Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis. If you think that your erectile dysfunction is psychological, you can try relaxation and auto-training methods, or get a consultation from a psychotherapist.
